Before you use your Monk 'n' Bear nappy wash it in warm water with ¼ strength washing powder. We then recommend washing only your bamboo liners again 2-3 times in cold water with no washing powder. There is no need to dry in between washes. This will ensure your bamboo liners reach their maximum absorbency before you use them.
To apply the nappy refer to nappy folding instructions
When it is time to change your baby's nappy, if the nappy outer is dry, just insert dry liners and reapply the nappy.
If the nappy outer is dirty, rinse any solids into the toilet before placing the nappy and liners in a nappy bucket or wetbag for up to 3 days before washing.
Wash you nappies on a heavy duty setting in warm water with ¼ strength washing powder. For a thorough clean some people like to put their nappies through a cold rinse cycle before washing.
Nappies are best dried outside in the sun, but they can occasionally be tumble dried on a cool setting.
DO NOT use any bleaches or whiteners like Nappisan or vinegar on the nappy, as this will deteriorate the waterproof coating of the nappy, and reduce the life of the elastic.
Also, do not use fabric softeners or soap flakes, as these products will coat the fabrics resulting in reduced absorbency and leaking.
If you need to use a nappy rash cream it is important to use a flushable bio liner, or a microfleece liner to protect the nappy.
We recommend that you wash your nappies in a hot wash with no detergent about once a month to strip the nappy of any detergent build up on the nappy and liners. Detergent residue is the primary reason for smelly and/or leaking nappies.
